Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated area, upright and secure, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.

Keep the cylinder valve cap on when not in use.

Do not store near flammable materials — though nitrous oxide is non‑flammable it supports combustion.

Inspect periodically for rust, damage, leaks, or bulging. If any defect is found, stop use and return to supplier.

As a best practice, your gas supplier or you should confirm via weight (or gauge if applicable) that the cylinder is fully depressurised. According to safety documentation: “Cylinders must be emptied safely prior to tare weight check.”

If you hear no hissing sound when the valve is opened slightly (and proper procedures followed), it may indicate emptiness; however always follow certified methods and do not assume solely by sound/feel.

Immediately isolate the cylinder: close the valve if safe, move it to a safe outdoor/dry location if indoors.

Do not attempt to repair the cylinder or valve yourself.

Contact the supplier or certified technician for inspection.

Do not use a damaged cylinder; return it for retest or disposal per regulations.
